Hiya all
The qb2008 error on win7 wrt ie6 can be is caused by "removing" the ie8 feature.
The fix is to use "add /remove hardware". Tick the ie8 box and reboot.

All will be well and all manner of things will be well.

Dave, I don't have a copy (with license) of Pro 2002 so I can't test that, and so I don't have any detailed recommendations.

You could try setting up XP Mode and see if you can get an older version of IE to install there - see my article on XP Mode at http://qbblog.ccrsoftware.info/2009/10/quickbooks-and-windows-7/

If you are having IE integration issues I would think that getting the older version of IE installed would be your only solution. With Windows 7 you don't have a lot of options there other than XP Mode. OR, if you have IE9 installed, you can try playing with the compatibility mode settings, perhaps. But these are just vague ideas I'm throwing out - I haven't tested any of this.

Have QB Pro 2002 working fine on Windows 7 - 64 bit apart from the Navigator screens being blank. Understand this is to do with IE and not QB. Any advice on how to get these displaying ? Thanks.

I have successfully installed Quickbooks 2001 pro ver.9 on win2k, winxp and now Win7 32bit.
Install in compatibility mode win2000 as administrator.
Set qb desktop icon to run in Compatability winxp-sp2 as administrator.
Test only on a "copy" of your data and after running save it. Then try to open the saved data file on your new machine and also try on your old operating system to make sure it is safe. If it works you are as lucky as me.

ps. Try at your own risk, works for me.

I also use Firefox as default browser without problems.

The harder I try the luckier I get!

Good luck, Nigel

Internet Explorer 8 is very good because it is as stable as Opera. I hate the previous versions of IE like IE6 because it hangs frequently. "

Chris, QuickBooks is hard coded to use Internet Explorer, and you can't substitute other browsers. If IE8 is freezing your system outside of QB, you need to work on resolving that particular issue.

Hi there, I have a general query that you may have come across or offer a suggestion for. At the present moment I am using I.E 8 and windows 7 64 bit. A rather unique problem has presented itself in that I.E8 is freezing up the desktop and stopping any functionality through desktop icons. Herein is the conundrum. I prefer to use google chrome. Is there a way of instructing quickbooks to use Chrome instead of I.E 8 as my personal preference is to get rid of it. any comments are gratefully received

Accounting software should not be dictating what browser must be installed. Unfortunately, I'm forced to use QuickBooks so i'm forced to install that perpetual security hole, IE. What a joke.
