QuickBooks 2009 R8 Patch – Problem (resolved)

| August 3, 2009 | 1 Comment

An update on the 2009 R8 patch. Intuit has released links to this patch in several places, but some of the links don’t point you to the correct file. Here is the scoop on what to do if you want this manual patch.  8/3/2009 2:07 PM update – the error in the link in the online banking site has been fixed – thank you for responding quickly, Intuit!

If you go to the “online banking” information site, which is what was posted in the Intuit Community forum about online banking, you get a patch file that is 133047 KB. When I run that and click the install button the program almost immediately says that the update is complete. However, it won’t do the R8 patch. This looks to be the older R7 patch, perhaps (looking at the patch log file, it goes up through R7).

If, however, you go to the Support/Update web site and download the R8 patch, you get a file that is 156047 KB, and that applies properly. With this version the patch runs as expected and you get an R8 update applied. Note that you will be asked to “update your file” to the new version.

So, use the support/update site. Note that the path in the incorrect link doesn’t cause a problem, it just doesn’t do the R8 update.

Folks, when R8 was first released, there was an error in the Intuit web site. Some links didn’t provide you with the new update. Intuit was informed, and they very quickly resolved the problem. So this article no longer applies…
