Charlie -
I have tried to download the trial version - but each time I go to their website my IE locks up! I guess I will try calling them when I have time.

I've done a reasonable amount of custom QuickBooks reporting using the ODBC driver, Excel, and Crystal Reports. I've also been following the development of this product over the past couple of years. I'm really excited about what they have accomplished. I think Xpanded Reports has struck a great balance between easy of use and power.

It may not be the right solution for a casual end user and it won't solve every problem, but it is the first tool I've seen that I feel can really empower my more technical clients to manage their own custom reports. Perhaps my profit motive is not strong enough, but I'd rather teach a man to fish any day.

Elizabeth: That is my understanding of this, but you should check with them to be sure.

Karla: Thanks for the feedback. I have NOT used this for a long period of time, and it is good to hear from someone who has used it more than I have.

Andy: Feel free to let us know what your results are - and feel free to reference this article in your blog!

Thanks Charlie,
Their website says it will work with the UK version of QuickBooks. I'll have to give it a try.

I have been using XR for little over 1 month, and I too find the time to gathering the data to be painfully slow, but it takes ALOT less time than if I exported the 2 reports and then fiddled the information into one. (Which is what I had done in April) The cost of the seat for 1 month was easily worth the time it saved me!

Thanks for sharing. I did not get a chance to sit on this product at SNH but was interested in seeing more and it's always good to hear from someone who has actually worked w/it but not a rep for the company.

I am cautiously excited about this! I have very much needed this type of tool. I am using a lot of custom fields and exporting to Excel to get the data analysis I need. It can be quite cumbsersome. I am not a programmer and some of the other programs I looked at were just too deep for me, but I think I can understand this.
I assume the "seat" is per user (person) and allows me to use the program for as many different companies as I need to?

Charlie:

Thanks for sharing your valuable insights on this add-on reporting tool for QuickBooks.

I just started to play around with it myself, and see that there are some real possibilities with Xpanded Reports. We'll see how it develops.
