Does QuickBooks Bug You?
While QuickBooks is a widely used and popular program that has been around for quite awhile, there are a number of “issues” that cause people problems. “Bugs”, if you will. I would like to try something here. Leave a comment that briefly describes a bug that is causing you problems. Let’s see if there are some big ones that affect a lot of people, and maybe we can draw some attention to them at Intuit.
Win a Free Copy of QuickBooks Premier!
In November and December 2010 the Practical QuickBooks blog held a Premier 2010 Giveaway where we gave away five free copies of QuickBooks Premier 2010 Accountants Edition blog readers drawn from the list of people who fill out a simple survey. The contest is closed now.
Should I Select QuickBooks Accountant Edition?
When you purchase a copy of QuickBooks Premier or Enterprise you are often faced with a confusing question – which edition should I choose? Depending on where you purchase it, you may see the Contractor, Nonprofit, Retail, Manufacturing & Wholesale, Professional Services or Accountant edition. For some users it is simple – if you are a Non Profit organization for example, pick the Nonprofit edition. But what if I am a manufacturer who also sells in a retail environment? What to choose? Sometimes the answer may be surprising – you might want to try the Accountant Edition.
Warning – Phishing eMail about Intuit Products
A quick note – there are a lot of phishing emails coming out lately that look like they come from Intuit. Some talk about a security tool that QuickBooks online users must download, some talk about a survey to fill out after your purchase of an Intuit product. Please be careful, these may be phishing emails trying to get malware on your computer or access to your accounts.
QuickBooks Support and Training Resources
There are a lot of ways to get help with QuickBooks, and in today’s article I’m going to list a few resources for support and training that I’ve found to be helpful. Many of these are free, but some do have a cost involved. Updated 11/10/2009
This isn’t a comprehensive list of ALL resources that are available – but they are all ones that I’ve used, read or reviewed at one time or another. If you have any that you like that aren’t listed here, leave a comment!
Using Subtotals in QuickBooks Orders
The subtotal item in QuickBooks can be useful if you want to provide a summary of the price of items you are selling in an order form. Unfortunately, if you try to get tricky with multiple levels of subtotals you may find that this feature doesn’t work the way you might expect. Today we’ll talk a bit about subtotals and how you can get around some limitations.
QuickBooks Multiuser Network Diagnostic Tool
Diagnosing network problems with QuickBooks can be a bit frustrating sometimes. In most cases I’ve not had much trouble, but sometimes you start working with a particular network that just doesn’t want to work the way that you want. Intuit has created the QuickBooks Network Diagnostic Tool to help.
QuickBooks Keyboard Shortcuts
If you are entering a lot of information into an accounting program like QuickBooks, you want to be able to keep your hands on the keyboard. Moving back and forth from the keyboard to the mouse just slows you down. That is why we have “keyboard shortcuts” in good Windows based programs – to minimize the time you waste with the mouse.
Information about the keyboard shortcuts in QuickBooks is available in many places, but I’m always surprised by how many people who just don’t know about them. So today I’ll review what we have available. Please note that this is a Windows-centric view of the QuickBooks world.
Graphics for your Company
I’m branching out a bit today to talk about a general business topic, not strictly related to QuickBooks. Let’s talk a bit about business graphics – specifically a company or product logo.
These days almost every business needs a graphic logo for their company and/or products. Contracting with a graphic designer can be expensive, time consuming, and sometimes very stressful. I’ve gone through this multiple times in the past 30 years of business, and I usually to not enjoy the process.
Correcting the QuickBooks Spelling Dictionary
If you use the spelling feature in QuickBooks you will find that it is easy to add a misspelled word to the dictionary. That is, QuickBooks says that a word is not in the dictionary and you accidentally click Add instead of Replace. The misspelled word is in your dictionary, and QuickBooks doesn’t provide you with a way to delete the entry. How can you fix this?
