QuickBooks 2018 R8 Released
Intuit has released QuickBooks 2018 R8, a maintenance release. This update should be available via automatic updates. You can also go to the QuickBooks Update site to download the patch.
The changes are:
- Invoices and Microsoft Outlook: There are some fixes to resolve issues where QuickBooks would freeze when working with invoices if you have Microsoft Outlook installed.
- PDF/Forms Errors: If you get an error when printing a PDF form you will now see a Troubleshoot button for running the Print PDF Repair Tool.
- Bank Feeds: This release fixes issues with bank feeds, but Intuit doesn’t tell us what those issues were.
- Upgrade to 2019: There is a change in the program that lets you easily upgrade to QuickBooks 2019. My personal recommendation is that you wait on doing this until January 2019, mainly because I don’t trust the very early versions of their product each year (I don’t know of specific issues, I’m just cautious).
- Self Help: The help system has been remodeled to make it a “better experience”.
Many of these fixes have been rolled out in other recent updates to other years of QuickBooks products recently, so most of this is just the 2018 product catching up with the others. If you are running QuickBooks 2018, it should be fine to install this update.
