QuickBooks 2018 R16 for 1099-MISC Forms

| December 31, 2020

Intuit has released QuickBooks 2018 R16, and the main update relates to Form 1099-MISC and Form 1099-NEC. This is the same update that has been rolled out for QuickBooks 2019QuickBooks 2020, and QuickBooks 2021 recently. In addition there are a few bug fixes.

This update should be available via automatic updates. You can also go to the QuickBooks Update site to download the patch.

1099-MISC and 1099-NEC

If you are going to file 1099 forms then this is an important update.

1099 forms: This release adds support for 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC printing and e-filing. There also may be some changes to the QuickBooks SDK (programming interface for add-ons) so that third party applications can support these forms. If you file either of these forms, you need to install this update. If you aren’t familiar with the 1099-NEC Nonemployee Compensation form, see the IRS 1099-NEC page.

QuickBooks 2018 R16 Bug Fixes

There are several bug fixes in this release:

  • This release fixes a problem where you would get a blank Purchase Order number when exporting or viewing transactions on a report from the Customer Center.
  • Values in the aging column of invoice-related reports will now show correctly regardless of what Sort By filter you select.
  • Certificate errors will no longer show when using the Business Planner.
  • Login from the My Company screen will no longer be hidden by opening in the background.
  • If you switch between same year editions you will no longer be prompted to upgrade.
