FAQ:Locating the QBWIN.LOG File in QuickBooks

There are times when you may be asked to examine the QBWIN.LOG file to be able to determine what is going on in your QuickBooks company file. How do you find it?

  1. Open your QuickBooks company file.
  2. Press the F2 key to open the Product Information window (or, Ctrl-1 if F2 doesn’t work).
  3. Press the F3 key to open the Tech Help window (or, ctrl-2 if F3 doesn’t work).
  4. Click on the Open File tab.
  5. Scroll down to find QBWIN.LOG and click on it to select it.
  6. Click the Open File button to open the file.

You can also click the Path On/Off button to display the path of the file if you want to go to it directly.

    I was able to track down the QBWin.log file using your instructions. The problem has been resolved. I am very thankful for these instructions.

    I’m getting a duplicate error. I have attempted to find thee quickbooks.log file without success. Yes I did find the qbwin file but I didn’t see were I could cont end then ctrl f find duplicates. I have gone through the master list and regular lists and am not finding any duplicates
